Role Overview: We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Senior Linux Engineer with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in managing Linux-based infrastructure environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and high availability of our Linux server estate, supporting both on-premises and cloud-hosted platforms. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) across physical, virtualized, and cloud environments. Perform system administration activities including server provisioning, performance tuning, patch management, and system hardening. Manage and troubleshoot services such as Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, Samba, FTP, DNS, DHCP, and SSH. Monitor server health, logs, and performance using standard monitoring tools and respond to incidents and alerts. Automate routine operational tasks using scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Ansible. Participate in infrastructure upgrade, migration, and DR/HA implementations. Perform vulnerability assessments and remediation in line with security best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, storage, application, and cloud teams for integrated infrastructure support. Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions. Provide on-call support for critical issues based on a defined rota. Required Skills & Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure support. Strong hands-on experience with RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE distributions. Good understanding of Linux security, firewall configurations, SELinux, and system hardening techniques. Experience in troubleshooting OS, network, and application-level issues. Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, or Proxmox. Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus. Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) knowledge of Python/Ansible will be an advantage. Experience with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Certifications: RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)Role & responsibilities
