Lidar Engineer

Job Description

Role & responsibilities LiDAR Data Processing Process raw LiDAR data from ALS (Airborne LiDAR Survey) and MLS (Mobile LiDAR Survey) projects. Perform point cloud classification, editing, and feature extraction. Tool Utilization Use software like TerraScan , TerraMatch , and TerraPhoto within MicroStation V8i or Connected Edition for calibration, alignment, and data refinement. QA/QC and Data Validation Conduct detailed QA/QC checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of the processed data. Validate project deliverables such as DTM (Digital Terrain Models) , DSM (Digital Surface Models) , Contours , and Orthophotos . Project Coordination Collaborate closely with project managers, survey teams, and GIS professionals. Review and interpret project specifications and technical documentation. Deliverables Preparation Generate high-quality geospatial outputs in compliance with client and industry standards (ASPRS, LAS/LAZ). Ensure timely delivery of data and outputs as per project timelines. Workflow Optimization Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize workflows for enhanced processing efficiency. Suggest and implement improvements to data processing techniques and methodologies. Preferred candidate profile Educational Qualification : Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering , Geomatics , Geoinformatics , or related disciplines. Experience Required : 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in LiDAR data processing (preferably both ALS and MLS projects). Technical Skills : Proficient in: MicroStation V8i / CONNECT Edition TerraScan TerraMatch TerraPhoto Familiar with: GIS tools like ArcGIS or QGIS Handling and managing large-scale geospatial datasets Knowledge Areas : Understanding of LiDAR data formats and standards (ASPRS, LAS/LAZ) Knowledge of point cloud classification , georeferencing, and accuracy checks Other Attributes : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Effective time management to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
