Job Summary:

Unicent School, Bowrampet Campus, is seeking a passionate and organized Librarian to manage the school library and foster a love of reading and research among students. The ideal candidate will create a vibrant, accessible, and supportive library environment that encourages curiosity, independent learning, and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage the school library’s collection of books, digital resources, and reference materials.
• Support students and teachers in selecting appropriate reading and research materials.
• Maintain a cataloging and classification system (physical and/or digital).
• Promote reading habits through activities like book clubs, reading challenges, storytelling sessions, and author visits.
• Ensure proper upkeep of the library space and maintain an inviting atmosphere.
• Teach students how to use library resources effectively, including research skills and digital literacy.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
• Track inventory, handle book issues and returns, and manage overdue/lost books.
• Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
• Stay current with new publications, technologies, and educational resources.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a school library or educational setting is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in library management systems and digital tools.
• Passion for children’s literature and educational development.
• Ability to engage with children across different age groups.
