Job Summary:

The Librarian is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring the effective organization, maintenance, and accessibility of library resources. The role involves assisting students, faculty, and staff in locating and using information resources, maintaining digital and physical collections, and promoting a culture of reading and research within the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain all library operations, including cataloguing, classification, and circulation of materials.
  • Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
  • Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating books, journals, and digital resources.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of books, e-resources, and journals.
  • Plan and oversee library budget, procurement, and vendor management.
  • Coordinate with academic departments to support curriculum and research needs.
  • Manage library software systems (e.g., Koha, SOUL, or other LMS).
  • Ensure proper maintenance, safety, and orderliness of the library premises.
  • Organize library orientations, reading programs, and workshops for users.
  • Supervise library staff and student assistants.
  • Prepare periodic reports on library usage, resources, and activities.
  • Promote digital literacy and manage access to e-books, databases, and online journals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (M.Lib / MLISc) from a recognized university.
