Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary Management

• Maintain and organize all books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and digital resources.
• Classify, catalogue, and shelve books systematically.
• Manage book issue and return using manual registers or digital software.
• Keep records of borrowed, damaged, or missing books.
• Maintain inventory and prepare requirement lists for book purchases.

Student Support & Reading Development

• Assist students in selecting books appropriate for their age and reading level.
• Conduct story sessions, reading hours, and library activities for younger classes.
• Guide students on research skills and how to use library resources effectively.
• Encourage reading habits through:
• Book reviews
• Reading competitions
• Library week celebrations
• Display boards

Administrative Responsibilities

• Prepare annual library budget and purchase proposals.
• Maintain discipline and a quiet, reading-friendly environment.
• Update library records, catalogs, and software regularly.
• Coordinate with teachers for subject-related reading materials.
• Ensure timely repair or replacement of damaged books.

Library Maintenance

• Keep the library clean, organized, and child-friendly.
• Maintain computers, digital tools, and reading spaces.
• Arrange books, labels, and sections for easy access.

School Coordination

• Support teachers by providing resources for projects and assignments.
• Assist in setting up book fairs, exhibitions, and educational activities.
• Collaborate with English/Language teachers to promote literacy programs.

Qualifications & SkillsEducational Qualifications

• B.Lib / M.Lib (Library Science) – mandatory as per CBSE norms.
• Knowledge of library management software is preferred.

• Ability to manage students from primary to secondary levels.
• Basic computer knowledge (MS Office, library software, internet search).
