Role Overview

The Legal Manager will be responsible for providing strategic legal support to the business, managing contracts, handling litigation, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. This role demands not only strong legal acumen but also the ability to act as a business partnerbalancing risk management with pragmatic, solution-oriented advice. The Legal Manager will actively promote ethical practices, protect company interests, and partner with senior stakeholders to enable sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contracts Management

Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize a wide range of commercial contracts, vendor agreements, customer agreements, NDAs, supply chain agreements, and service contracts.

Ensure contracts are legally sound, protect business interests, and align with corporate policies.

Provide guidance to business teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risk mitigation.

2. Litigation & Dispute Resolution

Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation matters related to labor, commercial, regulatory, and civil issues.

Coordinate with external counsels, monitor progress of cases, and provide timely updates to management.

Develop strategies to minimize litigation exposure and ensure effective dispute resolution.

3. Legal Advisory & Stakeholder Management

Act as a trusted legal advisor to business heads and functional leaders.

Provide proactive, solution-oriented legal support to enable business decisions while mitigating risks.

Educate stakeholders on legal implications of business strategies and transactions.

4. Compliance & Ethics

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, including corporate governance, competition law, labor laws, and industry-specific regulations.

Promote a culture of integrity and ethical business practices across the organization.

Conduct training sessions on compliance, ethics, and anti-corruption for employees.

5. Policy & Risk Management

Assist in formulating and implementing internal policies and procedures to strengthen risk management.

Monitor changes in laws/regulations and assess impact on the business.

Support audits, internal investigations, and compliance reviews.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong expertise in contracts drafting, negotiation, and litigation management.

Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance business objectives and legal risks.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Ethical, transparent, and proactive in approach.

Knowledge of manufacturing industry-related legal issues (environmental, labor, supply chain, etc.) will be an added advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a reputed institution.

8–12 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial MNC.

Proven track record of handling commercial contracts, litigation, compliance, and providing legal solutions in a business environment.

Experience in working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
