Job Description

Role Overview: As a Site Reliability Engineer at Salesforce, you will be responsible for building and managing a multi-substrate Kubernetes and microservices platform that powers Core CRM and various applications across Salesforce. Your role will involve ensuring high availability of a large fleet of clusters running various technologies, contributing code to drive improvement, driving automation efforts, improving platform visibility through monitoring and metrics, implementing self-healing mechanisms, and collaborating with other Infrastructure teams. Key Responsibilities: - Build and manage a multi-substrate Kubernetes and microservices platform - Ensure high availability of clusters running Kubernetes, software load balancers, service mesh, etc. - Contribute code to drive improvement and automation efforts - Improve platform visibility through monitoring and metrics implementation - Implement self-healing mechanisms to proactively fix issues - Collaborate with other Infrastructure teams across Salesforce - Evaluate new technologies to solve problems as needed - Troubleshoot complex production issues in distributed systems - Automate tasks using modern high-level languages - Have good written and spoken communication skills Qualifications Required: - Experience operating large-scale distributed systems, especially in cloud environments - Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex distributed systems - Strong working experience with Linux Systems Administration - Good knowledge of Linux internals - Experience in scripting/programming languages like Python, GoLang, etc. - Basic knowledge of Networking protocols and components - Experience with Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or other DevOps tools - Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Grafana, Zabbix, etc. - Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or Service Mesh - Experience with AWS, Terraform, Spinnaker - Continuous learner and critical thinker - Team player with great communication skills Additional Details: Areas where you may be working include highly scalable, highly performant distributed systems with highly available and durable data storage capabilities. Practical knowledge of challenges regarding clustering solutions, deploying code in the public cloud environments, working with Kubernetes, and APIs provided by various public cloud vendors are highly desired skills.
