Job Summary: The Lead Technical Architect will be responsible for the overall technical vision, design and guidance for a variety of client projects and will own the Architecture Practice within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of multiple technologies, platforms and architectural patterns. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of translating complex business requirements into effective technical solutions and communicating these effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. As an IT services company, this role will involve working closely with clients to understand their needs and propose solutions that align with their business goals and our service offerings. Objectives and Key Outputs (Responsibilities): The Lead Technical Architect will be responsible for the following functions and outputs: Technology Strategy & Roadmap: Lead technology selection and define the technology roadmap for projects and the organization. Create and maintain technology architecture blueprints. Explore and adopt new technologies to drive innovation. Solution Design & Architecture: Lead the design and development of end-to-end technical solutions for client projects, ensuring they are scalable, secure, resilient and maintainable. Define and document architectural blueprints, including system diagrams, data models and integration points. Advise and guide stakeholders on technical solutions. Authority to accept or reject an implementation or architecture. Technical Leadership & Team Management: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams. Guide implementation teams regarding sizing and estimation. Provide guidance to the team to resolve technical challenges, make technology and architecture choices and resolve issues. Assist in technical talent acquisition and defining team structures and assignments for optimal delivery. Assess the performance of technical team members. Establish frameworks for performance measurement for technical teams. Process & Practice Management: Define, improve, implement, modify and update the Architecture Management Process. Oversee technology processes and practices. Optimize the Technology Management Process to create predictability, optimal velocity and transparency. Manage the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and associated processes. Client Engagement & Product Strategy: Interact with clients' business and technical teams to understand their requirements, challenges and opportunities to add value. Manage client expectations around product functionality. Assist in creating the product go-to-market strategy. Be an advocate for the product end-user and provide user insights. Budget & Stakeholder Management: Assist in budget management and compensation management for technical teams. Own and manage stakeholder expectations. Required Skills and Experience: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in software development, with a significant portion in large-scale enterprise software development. Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Technical Architect, Lead Architect, or similar role, preferably within an IT services or consulting environment. Demonstrable experience in creating Technical Architecture and Strategy. Experience in managing the Software Development Life Cycle and processes. Experience in acquiring technical talent and associated processes. Experience in planning and managing budgets for technical teams. Experience in creating Technology Roadmaps. Experience with Rapid Prototyping and similar processes. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of architectural patterns (e.g., Microservices, SOA, Event-Driven Architecture, N-tier, Kafka). Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, .NET (C#), Python, Node.js). In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). Relevant certifications are a plus. Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), data modeling and data warehousing. Experience with API design and management (REST, SOAP, GraphQL, RabbitMQ, GRPC). Knowledge of DevOps principles and tools (CI/CD, infrastructure as code). Understanding of security best practices and principles in solution design. Soft Skills & Intangibles: Excellent analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Strong leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions. Strong presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment. Industry-specific certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert). Experience with specific industry verticals relevant to our client base. Proven track record of contributing to thought leadership (e.g., white papers, conference presentations). Privileges / Authorities: Own the Architecture Practice. Define, improve, implement, modify and update the Architecture Management Process. Advise and guide stakeholders about technical solutions.
