Lead System Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and oversee L1 and L2 System Administrators, ensuring operational efficiency and SLA adherence
• Act as the final escalation point for complex system, infrastructure, and production issues
• Plan, review, and approve system changes, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities
• Manage and ensure availability, performance, and security of Linux and Windows environments
• Design and oversee on-prem, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure including compute, storage, virtualization, backup, and DR
• Provide technical oversight to Network and Security Engineers and review network and firewall configurations
• Ensure compliance with security best practices, vulnerability management, and hardening standards
• Drive automation and standardization using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and scripting
• Act as technical SPOC for customers, understand requirements, define delivery scope, and drive execution
• Participate in customer meetings, solution design discussions, and technical reviews
• Ensure project and operational deliveries are completed within agreed scope, timelines, and quality standards
• Define and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and documentation
• Follow and enforce ITIL processes including incident, change, and problem management
• Collaborate with internal teams including Project Management, QA, Security, and Management

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong hands-on experience in Linux (RHEL / AlmaLinux / Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs)
• Experience with firewalls and network security (FortiGate, Palo Alto, or equivalent)
• Expertise in virtualization platforms (VMware / XCP-ng / Hyper-V / KVM)
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP at least one)
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability architectures
• Hands-on exposure to automation and scripting (Ansible, Terraform, Shell, PowerShell)
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Zabbix, etc.)
