Lead Mechanical

Purpose/Objective

Lead - Mechanical (Wind) is responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems at wind project sites. This role is crucial in ensuring that turbines and other mechanical components are installed safely, efficiently, and according to technical specifications. Key responsibilities include managing mechanical teams, coordinating with engineering and project teams, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Lead also resolves mechanical issues, ensures the reliability of equipment, and implements preventive maintenance to optimize turbine performance, contributing to the successful operation and longevity of the wind farm.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Oversee Mechanical System Design and Integration: Responsible for the design and integration of mechanical systems within renewable energy projects by developing detailed mechanical designs that ensure the efficiency and reliability of systems such as turbines, solar panels, and heat exchangers. Oversees the integration of these systems into the overall project, ensuring they meet performance specifications and operational requirements. Mechanical Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation of mechanical components, ensuring they are correctly assembled and aligned according to design specifications. Coordinates with contractors and installation teams, supervises the commissioning process to validate system performance, and ensures that all systems are tested and operational before project handover. Ensuring Regulatory and Safety Compliance: Ensures that all mechanical systems and processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements by developing and implementing procedures to meet safety, quality, and environmental regulations. Conducts regular inspections and audits to verify compliance and addresses any non-compliance issues by staying updated with regulatory changes and ensuring that all mechanical systems adhere to current standards and practices. Technical Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution: Lead technical problem-solving and issue resolution during the design, installation, or operation of renewable energy systems by developing solutions, and implementing corrective actions. Runs analysis to identify root causes and innovative approaches to solving complex technical challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines and system performance. Manage Mechanical Maintenance and Optimization: Oversee the routine maintenance of mechanical systems to ensure their long-term reliability and performance by developing maintenance schedules, implementing preventive maintenance practices, and optimizing system performance. Ensures that all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and effectively, minimizing downtime and extending the lifespan of mechanical systems. Documentation and Reporting: Oversee the documentation of mechanical system installations, maintenance activities, and site inspections, ensuring that all records comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Prepare and review mechanical performance reports, providing insights into equipment efficiency, potential issues, and recommending corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Background: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field. Work Experience: 13+ years of experience in mechanical roles within renewable energy projects, including project design, implementation, and management. Proven expertise in integrating new technologies and leading technical teams is essential.
