With your deep and broad engineering skills, you have the ability to independently establish an architecture from scratch. Your key responsibilities will include: - Applying and staying updated on current and emerging technologies within your specialized domain - Evaluating new technologies and participating in decision-making processes considering factors such as compatibility with Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness - Leading research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies - Setting strategies for testing and debugging at the platform or enterprise level - Establishing and improving standards and best practices to ensure high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables - Leading the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services - Providing thought leadership to promote re-use and develop consistent, scalable patterns - Participating in planning services with enterprise impact - Developing plans and schedules, estimating resource requirements, and defining milestones and deliverables - Monitoring workflow and risks, playing a key role in mitigating risks and overcoming obstacles - Leading and participating in complex construction, automation, and implementation activities - Establishing new standards and best practices for monitoring, testing, automating, and maintaining IT components or systems - Serving as an expert resource in disaster recovery and planning Additionally, you should possess the following qualifications: - A 4-year degree or equivalent experience - 7+ years of software development experience with at least one full cycle implementation - Strong domain-specific knowledge of Target's technology capabilities and key competitors" products - Proficiency in multiple computer languages and frameworks - Experience in designing, developing, and approving end-to-end functionality of products, platforms, or infrastructure - Excellent communication and coordination skills with project teams, partners, and stakeholders - Expertise in analyzing and optimizing systems capacity, performance, and operational health - Ability to develop solutions for data lifecycle management - Continuous learning and staying updated on new technologies through formal training and self-directed education - Experience in building highly scalable distributed systems Your role as a Lead Engineer at Target is instrumental in driving innovation, technical excellence, and successful product delivery.
