Lead Engineer

You will be part of a purpose-driven HealthTech startup that is transforming healthcare delivery by connecting patients, providers, and caregivers through innovative data, AI, and digital services. As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the architecture, mentoring engineers, and delivering high-quality backend services utilizing Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and MongoDB. In this role, you will lead the backend engineering team, taking charge of technical design, implementation, and delivery of scalable backend systems. Your responsibilities will include defining backend strategy, ensuring code quality, and guiding junior and mid-level developers. This hands-on leadership position is ideal for individuals who excel in fast-paced startup environments and are eager to shape the core technology foundation of a growing product. Your key responsibilities will include leading the architecture, design, and development of backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices. You will also be tasked with designing scalable data models using MongoDB, collaborating with cross-functional teams, guiding and mentoring engineers, enforcing engineering best practices, and making critical decisions regarding technology choices and system architecture. Additionally, you will own the entire development lifecycle from requirement analysis to deployment and monitoring, troubleshoot production issues, and stay up-to-date with emerging technologies. To qualify for this role, you should have a minimum of 6 years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or architect role. You must possess expertise in Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Microservice Architecture, API Design, MongoDB or equivalent NoSQL databases, RESTful API standards, secure service design, Docker, CI/CD tools, Git, software engineering principles, design patterns, distributed systems, debugging, performance optimization, and system design. Strong communication and leadership skills in Agile team environments are essential. Ideally, you should hold a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Masters in Computer Science Engineering (M.Tech / MCA) from a recognized university. Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), performance optimization tools, authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, and previous exposure to startup or fast-paced environments would be advantageous.
