Lead Backend Engineer

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients with a salary range of Rs 2000000 - Rs 4000000 (i.e., INR 20-40 LPA). The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of experience and the job location is Gurgaon, NCR. This is a full-time position. We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer who excels in fast-paced, high-impact environments. As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping product direction, making architecture decisions, and scaling systems to accommodate increasing demands. Your key responsibilities will include leading the design and development of scalable, reliable, and efficient backend systems utilizing modern microservices architecture. You will collaborate across various technologies and functions such as design, backend, DevOps, and client interactions as required. Taking ownership of projects from inception to production deployment, you will ensure performance, scalability, and a seamless user experience. Additionally, you will promote clean, maintainable code and best engineering practices through code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical specifications. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to defining and executing the product roadmap. Furthermore, you will build reusable backend components, enhance internal tools and frameworks, and continuously enhance developer productivity. Your role will involve driving the adoption of engineering standards across multiple codebases to ensure quality and consistency. The qualifications for this role include a minimum of 4 years of hands-on backend development experience, with proficiency in Node.js and Python. Demonstrated expertise in developing production-grade web applications and distributed systems is essential. A strong grasp of REST APIs, microservices, and backend frameworks is required. Proficiency in tools and technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Git, Linux, and AWS is expected. Excellent skills in debugging, testing, and performance optimization are necessary. Comfort in owning substantial pieces of architecture and leading cross-functional initiatives is crucial. A solid product mindset with an eye for design detail and user experience is highly valued. A passion for learning new technologies and exploring unfamiliar problem areas is important. A degree in Computer Science or a related field is advantageous.
