Laboratory Technician

As a Raw Material Testing Technician, you will be responsible for analyzing raw materials such as clay, feldspar, and quartz to ensure they meet the required quality standards before being used in production. Your role will involve testing ceramic products, formulating glazes, monitoring production variables, maintaining laboratory instruments, and managing inventory. Key Responsibilities: - Perform routine tests on ceramic products to assess strength, porosity, and thermal resistance. Identify defects and provide corrective action recommendations. - Prepare test specimens and samples for laboratory analysis, utilizing kilns and other lab equipment. - Formulate and test glazes, slips, and surface coatings for consistency, color accuracy, and adherence properties. - Monitor kiln temperatures, firing cycles, and production variables to maintain firing consistency. Report anomalies as necessary. - Record and analyze lab test data, preparing reports to support production decisions and research efforts. - Assist in R&D activities by testing experimental batches and documenting results. - Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments. Keep the lab clean, safe, and organized. - Follow safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment, and comply with regulations. - Manage inventory of lab supplies and raw materials. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemistry, or ceramic engineering. - Previous experience in a similar role within the ceramics industry preferred. - Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Good communication skills and proficiency in data analysis.
