Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

  • Supervise daily biochemistry laboratory activities and workflow
  • Ensure proper sample collection, processing, analysis, and reporting
  • Maintain accuracy, precision, and turnaround time of test results
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot biochemistry analyzers and equipment

Quality Control & Assurance

  • Implement and monitor internal and external quality control programs
  • Ensure compliance with NABL / ISO / hospital quality standards
  • Maintain calibration, validation, and maintenance records of instruments
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action plans

Staff Supervision & Training

  • Supervise lab technicians and support staff
  • Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing
  • Train staff on laboratory procedures, safety, and equipment usage
  • Evaluate staff performance and ensure adherence to SOPs

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure biosafety, waste management, and infection control practices
  • Enforce laboratory safety guidelines and PPE usage
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

Inventory & Administration

  • Manage laboratory inventory including reagents, kits, and consumables
  • Ensure proper storage, expiry tracking, and stock availability
  • Coordinate with vendors for procurement and equipment servicing
  • Maintain laboratory documentation, reports, and records

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with clinicians, nursing staff, and administration
  • Address technical queries related to biochemistry test results
  • Support laboratory accreditation and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • M.Sc. Biochemistry / B.Sc. Biochemistry with relevant experience

  • Additional certification in laboratory quality management is an advantage
  • Minimum

    58 years

    of experience in a clinical biochemistry laboratory
  • At least

    23 years

    in a supervisory or in-charge role preferred

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
