Key Responsibilities:

Lab Operations & Management:

• Organize and maintain civil engineering lab facilities, including setting up equipment and materials for practical sessions.
• Ensure the lab is well-stocked with necessary tools, consumables, and safety gear.
• Keep the lab environment clean, safe, and compliant with institutional and regulatory standards.

Student Mentoring & Experimentation:

• Guide students in conducting experiments and using lab equipment to ensure accurate, practical learning outcomes.
• Assist students in understanding experimental procedures, analysing results, and preparing lab reports.
• Foster a practical understanding of civil engineering concepts through hands-on demonstrations and exercises.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

• Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with lab instruments, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
• Maintain a log of equipment usage, servicing schedules, and repair history.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure that all lab activities comply with safety regulations and institutional policies.
• Conduct safety briefings for students and faculty before lab sessions.
• Ensure that all safety equipment is functional and available, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and protective gear.

Faculty Support:

• Collaborate with faculty to design and improve lab experiments and practical coursework.
• Assist in the development of new lab activities to align with curriculum requirements.
• Provide technical support during research projects and other departmental initiatives.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering equipment and experimental procedures.
• Experience in mentoring students and facilitating hands-on learning sessions.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining lab instruments.
• Knowledge of lab safety protocols and regulations.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering a safe, engaging, and practical learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma in civil engineering, with preference for B.E./B.Tech. qualifications
• 5-7 years of experience in similar labs
• Experience in the education sector or a similar environment is an advantage.
