Job Description

The job involves inspecting routine samples upon receipt and distributing them to various sections of the laboratory based on the type of analysis required. It is essential to communicate any abnormal samples or non-receipt of routine samples as per the schedule to the shift in charge. Adherence to standard test methods, work instructions, and compliance with Quality system procedures is crucial. Carrying out required tests and validating the test results before reporting them to ensure result reliability is maintained. Any exceptions or deviations in test results should be detected and reported promptly. In emergency situations, on-spot mitigation should be performed under the guidance of the shift in charge. Effective sample management, including safe disposal of leftover samples, is required. Timely entry of test results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is essential. Ensuring the availability of analytical equipment by cleaning and maintaining them for the next experiment or test is part of the responsibilities. Good housekeeping practices in the laboratory must be maintained at all times. Proper data management involves recording results in raw data books, LIMS, process registers, and individual raw data books for work carried out. Compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Facility (HSEF) procedures and practices, as well as staying informed about environmental, site, statutory, and IP regulations, is crucial. Handling chemicals and tools according to safety norms and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to laboratory management for correction is part of the job role. Initiative for self-improvement through training to enhance competencies and participation in external training and events as advised by the section head is encouraged. The job requires timely execution of assigned tasks, the ability to adapt to changes in plans, and collaboration with various interfaces such as business, customers, operations, E&M, and HSEF. Competencies in sample management, prioritization of activities, and specific HSEF competencies like Fire Safety Management and Waste Management are essential. The educational requirement for this role is a B.Sc. in Chemistry or Diploma in Chemical Engineering. Ideally, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the QA/QC discipline. Relevant knowledge of test procedures, results reporting, sample handling, and performing analyses as per standard methods is necessary. Understanding process stream samples in relation to critical results, learning different types of chemical/instrumental testing, and effective communication skills for reporting abnormal or off-spec results to the Shift In-charge are key competencies for this position.,
