Junior Civil Engineer/ Trainee Civil Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Junior Civil Engineer

• Assist in supervising daily civil construction activities to ensure they align with approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor the work of contractors and subcontractors for quality, safety, and progress.
• Report any deviations, issues, or delays to senior engineers or senior engineer promptly.
• Interpret construction drawings and assist in setting out site works such as foundations, columns, walls, and drainage systems.
• Support the implementation of structural and civil works as per design and technical standards.
• Assist in conducting material tests (e.g., concrete cube tests, soil compaction, etc.) and maintain records.
• Check formwork, reinforcement, and finishing quality before and after concreting.
• Help maintain daily quality control checklists and photographic documentation.
• Maintain site diaries, daily progress reports, and labor/material usage records.
• Coordinate with site supervisors, contractors, and suppliers for timely material delivery and task execution.
• Communicate clearly with team members and escalate technical or resource issues when necessary.
• Proactively learn construction processes, project documentation, and civil engineering practices.
• Seek guidance from senior engineers and participate in on-site training sessions or toolbox talks.

Trainee Civil Engineer (Fresher)

• Assist senior and site engineers in day-to-day construction activities and project coordination.
• Support site engineers in monitoring ongoing work, including concrete pouring, brickwork, plastering, and utility installations.
• Help in checking alignment, levels, and workmanship under supervision.
• Maintain basic site records such as daily progress reports, material logs, and manpower deployment sheets.
• Assist in preparing checklists, photographic documentation, and quality control forms.
• Assist in ensuring that construction activities are carried out in accordance with the approved drawings.
• Support in measuring completed works for quantity verification and billing purposes.
• Help in preparing basic BOQs and material requirement lists under guidance.
• Observe quality checks conducted on materials and workmanship (e.g., concrete, steel, masonry).
• Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and contractors to understand coordination and communication on-site.
