R&D Manager

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Management Responsibilities

• Manage the development, testing, and deployment of

  mission-critical Java-based backend platforms

  serving customers.
• Provide technical leadership in one or more of the following areas:

  Java, Kotlin, Databases, Security, Observability, Infrastructure, Containerization, CI/CD, and Cloud

  .
• Collaborate with global teams in

  Engineering, Technical Support, Escalations, and DevOps

  to mitigate risks and troubleshoot customer issues.
• Deliver high-quality software releases including new features, bug fixes, and security updates.
  
• Determine project staffing, assign work, and ensure timely completion of R&D deliverables.
  
• Build and mentor a

  high-performing engineering team

  fostering an environment of trust, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Lead with empathy and transparency, promoting a culture of ownership and collaboration.
  
• Provide

  coaching, feedback, and career development

  opportunities for engineers.
• Execute performance and talent management strategies effectively.
  

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in

  Java

  and

  Spring Boot / Spring Framework

  for backend development.
• Exposure to

  Kotlin

  is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with

  Kafka (Confluent preferred)

  for event streaming.
• Expertise in

  Docker

  and

  Kubernetes

  for containerization and orchestration.
• Experience with

  Microservices Architecture

  design, development, and deployment.
• Knowledge of

  Observability tools

  like Datadog, Splunk, or Prometheus.
• Strong understanding of

  CI/CD pipelines

  using

  Jenkins

  ,

  GitLab CI/CD

  , or similar.
• Familiarity with

  cloud platforms

  such as

  AWS

  GCP

  Azure

• Understanding of

  Application Security

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree

  in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred).
• Minimum

  12+ years

  of relevant experience, with

  4+ years in direct people management

  .
• Strong hands-on background in

  software development

  using modern technologies.
