Job Description

The IT Admin will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization s IT infrastructure, ensuring software and hardware functionality, and safeguarding network security. This role involves installing and managing software, maintaining firewalls (such as Sophos), troubleshooting network and system issues, and providing technical support to the team.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain cloud-based environments, including
Azure
and
AWS
, ensuring high availability and scalability.
Oversee
network infrastructure
across multiple locations, including configuration and maintenance of
routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
.
Implement and manage
load balancing policies
, ensuring optimal performance and uptime of critical applications and services.
Set up, configure, and monitor
data centres
, including server performance, virtualization, and backup management.
Handle
firewall administration
(software and network-based), ensuring strong security protocols, VPN setups, and intrusion prevention measures.
Configure and manage
wireless access points (APs)
and ensure network reliability and security across all connected devices.
Maintain and troubleshoot
software-defined networking (SDN)
tools and ensure integration with on-premise and cloud environments.
Support and manage
user access control
, software installations, patching, and system updates.
Collaborate with the software and DevOps teams for deployment pipelines, system monitoring, and automation scripts.
Ensure
network documentation, policies, and configurations
are properly maintained and updated regularly.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

Strong understanding of
network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN)
.
Hands-on experience with
firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos, etc.)
and
load balancers (NGINX, AWS ELB, Azure Load Balancer)
.
Proficiency in
Azure and AWS cloud services
for infrastructure setup and management.
Familiarity with
Linux/Windows server administration
and
data center operations
.
Understanding of
backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
.
Basic knowledge of
scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
for automation.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

Bachelor s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience

2-5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or network management.

Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with firewall management, specifically Sophos or similar.
Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and VPNs.
Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with IT monitoring tools and system diagnostics.

Soft Skills

Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to IT challenges.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Certifications

Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, Sophos Firewall Certification, or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
