Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Billing & Invoicing:

    Generate and process accurate and timely bills for all inpatient services, including room charges, procedures, and medical consumables.
  • Insurance Claims:

    Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims for insured patients, ensuring all necessary documentation is attached.
  • Pre-authorization:

    Coordinate with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for planned treatments and verify patient coverage.
  • Payment Reconciliation:

    Reconcile payments received from cash, credit, and insurance sources, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Patient Communication:

    Act as the primary point of contact for patients regarding billing inquiries, explaining charges and resolving any disputes professionally.
  • Corporate & Credit Billing:

    Manage billing and payment follow-ups for corporate clients and other third-party credit agreements.
  • Collection Management:

    Track outstanding balances and actively follow up with patients or insurance providers to ensure timely and complete payment collection.
  • Record Keeping:

    Maintain meticulous records of all billing transactions, payments, and patient communications in the billing system.
  • Compliance & Reporting:

    Ensure all billing processes comply with hospital policies and government regulations. Generate regular reports on billing activities and collections.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination:

    Liaise with various departments, including medical records, pharmacy, and clinical staff, to ensure accurate and complete billing information.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in healthcare billing, preferably in a hospital or inpatient setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing software, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
