Job Title: Senior Project Engineer QA/QC Location: Project Sites, Hyderabad Reports To: Project Manager / Senior General Manager Job Summary: The Senior Project Engineer QA/QC ensures that all construction activities comply with established quality standards, project specifications, and industry norms. The role demands meticulous attention to detail in inspecting work, materials, and processes. It also involves implementing quality control systems, resolving quality-related issues, and ensuring the project's successful and defect-free delivery. The candidate must have in-depth technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a proactive mindset to address on-site challenges.Key Responsibilities: 1. Quality Management System (QMS): • Develop, implement, and maintain the QMS for the project to align with ISO 9001 standards and project-specific requirements. • Establish inspection and testing plans (ITPs) for all project activities and ensure compliance. • Identify areas for improvement in quality systems and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and compliance. 2. Material Quality Management: • Verify that all construction materials delivered to the site meet approved specifications and are procured from authorized vendors. • Liaise with procurement teams to ensure proper documentation for material approvals. • Oversee material storage and handling on-site to prevent damage or degradation. • Conduct third-party testing as required, including concrete compressive strength tests, soil compaction tests, and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing). 3. Site Inspection and Monitoring: • Conduct routine inspections and ensure that all construction works, including structural, finishing, plumbing, electrical, and MEP works, adhere to approved standards. • Monitor critical construction activities such as formwork, rebar placement, concreting, waterproofing, fireproofing, etc. • Provide timely recommendations for rectifications and verify their completion. • Work closely with site engineers to maintain alignment with the project schedule without compromising quality. 4. Non-Conformance and Defect Resolution: • Identify and document non-conformance issues in materials or workmanship through NCRs (Non Conformance Reports). • Investigate the root causes of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Coordinate with contractors and the site team to rectify defects and verify the effectiveness of corrective measures. 5. Project-Specific QA/QC Requirements: • Manage project-specific quality challenges such as faade systems, elevators, HVAC systems, and specialized finishes. • Ensure adherence to green building standards (LEED, IGBC) and project sustainability goals, if applicable. • Implement and monitor quality protocols for high-risk areas like waterproofing basements, terrace slabs, or critical load-bearing structures. 6. Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication: • Interface with clients, consultants, and third-party agencies to address quality-related concerns. • Participate in progress meetings to discuss QA/QC aspects and resolve quality issues. • Coordinate with government or certification authorities for inspections and approvals as required. 7. QA/QC Documentation and Audits: • Prepare and maintain records of inspection, testing, material approvals, and other quality-related activities. • Maintain up-to-date QA/QC logs, including RFIs (Request for Inspections) and MIRs (Material Inspection Requests). • Conduct regular internal quality audits and participate in external audits for compliance with project and industry standards. • Compile comprehensive project quality reports for submission to management and clients. 8. Risk Management and Prevention & HSE Complience : • Identify potential risks related to quality at each stage of the project. • Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize rework and project delays caused by quality issues. • Work in close coordination with the HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) team to ensure quality and safety standards align. • Ensure that safety procedures are implemented during quality inspections, particularly for hazardous tasks like scaffolding, hot works, or confined space activities. 9. Team Leadership and Training: • Lead and mentor junior QA/QC engineers, ensuring they understand project requirements and adhere to quality standards. • Organize training sessions for the site team on quality control processes, new construction techniques, and industry standards. • Promote a culture of accountability and quality excellence among site staff. Key Skills & Qualifications: 1. Educational Background: • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. • Postgraduate certification in Construction Management or QA/QC is an advantage.
