Implementation Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Implementation Engineer with 23 years of experience in implementing payment gateways, fintech platforms, or API-driven products. The role involves working closely with clients, internal product teams, and engineering teams to ensure smooth onboarding, configuration, integration, and go-live of payment or transaction-based solutions.

This is a client-facing, techno-functional role requiring strong understanding of APIs, payment flows, and implementation best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Client Implementation & Onboarding

Lead end-to-end implementation of payment gateway or similar fintech products for clients.

Understand client requirements and map them to product capabilities.

Configure system settings, workflows, and parameters as per client use cases.

Support client onboarding, UAT, and go-live activities.

Technical Integration

Assist clients in integrating APIs, SDKs, webhooks, and callback mechanisms.

Provide guidance on authentication, request/response structures, error handling, and retries.

Support integrations with client systems such as ERP, CRM, LOS/LMS, mobile apps, or websites.

Troubleshoot integration issues and work with internal engineering teams for resolution.

Testing & Go-Live Support

Coordinate and support UAT, sandbox testing, and production deployment.

Validate payment flows such as authorisation, capture, settlement, refunds, and reconciliations.

Ensure successful go-live and provide hypercare support post-deployment.

Stakeholder Coordination

Act as the primary implementation SPOC for assigned clients.

Coordinate with product, engineering, support, and operations teams.

Communicate implementation status, risks, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Prepare and maintain implementation documents, integration guides, and client-specific configurations.

Conduct walkthroughs and handover sessions for client tech and operations teams.

Document common issues, solutions, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

2–3 years of experience in implementing payment gateways, fintech products, or API-based platforms.

Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP methods, and webhooks.

Familiarity with payment flows such as collections, payouts, refunds, settlements, and reconciliation.

Basic knowledge of authentication mechanisms (API keys, OAuth, tokens).

Experience with tools like Postman, Swagger, or similar API testing tools.

Understanding of environments: Sandbox, UAT, Production.

Domain Knowledge (Preferred)

Payments, fintech, banking, NBFCs, wallets, or SaaS products.

Awareness of compliance aspects like PCI-DSS, data security, or basic regulatory requirements (good to have).

Soft Skills

Strong client communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Good documentation and presentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple implementations in parallel.

High ownership and execution-focused mindset.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Experience with payment aggregators, POS systems, or digital lending platforms.

Exposure to SQL or basic database queries.

Experience working in fast-paced startup or fintech environments.

Prior client-facing implementation or solution engineering experience.

Willing to travel to client site as needed
