Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IBM DataPower Developer with hands-on expertise in DataPower XI52 and XG45 Gateway appliances. You will design, develop, configure, and secure integrations for enterprise applications and external partners focusing on API security, XML threat protection, and high-performance gateway solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design Development
Develop and configure services on IBM DataPower XI52 and XG45 appliances.
Build Multi-Protocol Gateways (MPGW), Web Service Proxies (WSP), and XML Firewalls (XFW) to enable secure API traffic.
Develop and deploy REST and SOAP web services with message transformation and protocol mediation.
Security Threat Protection
Configure advanced threat protection, XML/JSON schema validation, and payload inspection.
Implement AAA policies for authentication and authorization (LDAP, OAuth 2.0, SAML).
Manage SSL/TLS configurations, digital certificates, keys, and cryptographic profiles.
Integration Transformation
Perform complex message transformations using XSLT, XSD, WSDL, and JSON/XML conversions.
Integrate DataPower gateways with back-end systems such as IBM MQ, IIB/ACE, or other ESBs.
Support routing, load balancing, and policy enforcement.
Support Troubleshooting
Monitor appliance health and logs; debug message flows and resolve integration or connectivity issues.
Optimize performance and maintain high availability of secure gateways.
Provide Level 2/3 support for production incidents and participate in on-call rotation if required.
Collaboration Documentation
Work closely with application teams, architects, network/security engineers, and external partners.
Maintain technical documentation for configurations, policies, and deployment standards.
Participate in design reviews, security audits, and code/configuration reviews.
Required Skills Experience
4 8 years of experience in IBM DataPower XI52 and XG45 configuration and support.
Strong understanding of secure gateway patterns, XML threat protection, protocol mediation, and service hardening.
Deep knowledge of SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, XSLT, XSD, WSDL, XPath, GatewayScript.
Hands-on experience with AAA policies, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP, and certificate/key management.
Solid experience integrating with IBM MQ, IIB/ACE, or other middleware solutions.
Good troubleshooting skills: analyze logs, trace flows, and resolve runtime issues.
Familiarity with version control (Git/SVN) and deployment automation (CI/CD).
Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
