Role & responsibilities:

HVAC Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform load calculations (cooling/heating)
• Design HVAC systems including air distribution, chilled water, VRF/VRV, and ventilation systems
• Select HVAC equipment such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, exhaust systems, and control components
• Prepare HVAC layout drawings, ducting and piping designs, and equipment schedules
• Create detailed design documents: P&IDs, schematics, specifications, and BOQs
• Ensure HVAC system compliance with relevant codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISHRAE, local building codes)
• Coordinate with architects, electrical/plumbing engineers, and project managers to integrate HVAC systems into overall building design
• Optimize designs for energy efficiency and sustainability (e.g., through system zoning, heat recovery, demand control ventilation)
• Support construction and commissioning teams by resolving design-related issues on-site
• Assist with green building certification efforts (e.g., LEED, IGBC) where applicable

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in industrial or FMCG HVAC design, including cleanroom or temperature-controlled environments
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Carrier HAP, TRACE)
• Knowledge of chilled water systems, variable air volume systems, and thermal storage
• Understanding of fire and smoke ventilation design
• LEED accreditation or knowledge of sustainable HVAC design practices
• Experience working with international codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, and fluid dynamics
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with HVAC controls
• Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills
