Job Description: Housekeeping Assistant / Room Attendant

Department: Housekeeping
Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor / Executive Housekeeper
Location: Hotel / Resort Property

Position Overview

The Housekeeping Assistant / Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation in guest rooms and public areas. The role ensures a comfortable and welcoming environment that enhances guest satisfaction and contributes to the hotel's service quality.

Key Responsibilities1. Guest Room Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean, tidy, and set up guest rooms daily according to hotel standards.
  • Change bed linens, replace towels, and replenish guest amenities.
  • Vacuum carpets, mop floors, dust furniture, and clean windows as required.
  • Clean bathrooms thoroughly, including showers, bathtubs, toilets, and sinks.
  • Report any maintenance issues (lighting, plumbing, furniture damage, etc.) to the supervisor.

2. Public Area Housekeeping

  • Maintain cleanliness in hallways, elevators, lobbies, and other public areas.
  • Ensure service areas and housekeeping carts are well-stocked and organized.

3. Guest Service

  • Respond promptly to guest requests (extra towels, pillows, amenities, etc.).
  • Maintain a polite, professional, and friendly attitude at all times.
  • Handle guest property with care and report any lost and found items.

4. Health, Safety & Hygiene

  • Follow all health and safety standards, including proper use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Adhere to hotel hygiene guidelines, including infection-control procedures.
  • Comply with fire and emergency procedures.

5. Operational Duties

  • Ensure all assigned rooms are cleaned within the designated time frame.
  • Manage laundry delivery and collection as needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping equipment and report faults or missing items.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.

  • Physical stamina to handle long shifts and manual tasks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in housekeeping or cleaning (preferably in the hotel industry) is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and procedures is desirable.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
