Key Responsibilities

• Should be a lead level (at least 10 years) who can guide and mentor junior developers but at the same should be doing hands on programming as well

• Complex Data Format Processing

• Implement efficient parsers and transformers for utility meter protocols (DLMS, CIM, IEC 61968)
• Build high-performance data validation and enrichment pipelines using Java 21+ virtual threads
• Design schema evolution strategies that maintain backward compatibility across meter types

• Concurrent Processing Architecture

• Leverage Java 21 virtual threads and structured concurrency for massive parallel processing
• Implement backpressure handling and circuit breaker patterns for resilient data processing
• Optimize memory usage and garbage collection for high-throughput data streams

• Microservices Development

• Build Quarkus-based services with reactive messaging patterns using Kafka
• Implement comprehensive health checks, metrics, and distributed tracing
• Design service APIs that support multiple meter types (electricity, water, gas, street lighting)

• Data Quality & Validation

• Implement real-time data quality checks and anomaly detection -
• Build configurable validation rules that adapt to different meter types and customer requirements
• Create data lineage tracking for regulatory compliance and troubleshooting

Skills and qualifications

Required

• Must have Java + Quarkus + Microservices

• Java Expertise (5+ years)

• Deep knowledge of Java 21+ features: virtual threads, pattern matching, records, sealed classes
• Expert-level understanding of concurrent programming, memory management, and JVM optimization
• Experience with reactive programming patterns and non-blocking I/O

• Microservices Architecture (3+ years)

• Quarkus framework experience with reactive messaging and cloud-native patterns
• Event-driven architecture design using Apache Kafka or similar message streaming platforms
• RESTful API design, OpenAPI specification, and service contract management

Data Processing Experience

• High-volume data transformation and ETL pipeline development
• Schema design and evolution strategies for complex data formats
• Experience with time-series data processing and optimization techniques

Preferred:

• Utility/IoT Domain Knowledge

  - Understanding of utility meter data formats and communication protocols - Experience with IoT device data processing and edge computing patterns - Knowledge of utility industry standards and regulatory requirements

• Advanced Technical Skills

  - Functional programming patterns and immutable data structure design - Property-based testing and advanced testing strategies for data transformations - Performance profiling and optimization of high-throughput Java applications.
