Job Description

Role Expectations

The Controls Lead Engineer is,

  • A technical expert & team leader of Controls Engineers for the assigned projects
  • Makes robust Controls strategy according to the timing, budget and quality of the projects assigned
  • Ensures the technical integrity of the work delivered from the Global Engineering Hub
  • Coaches and leads Engineers, Assistant Engineers, the focus is on developing their technical & engineering management skills

The typical Engineering activities

  1. Control Strategy Development
  2. Sensor Integration & Open (measurement) and closed (control) Loops 
  3. System Validation & Testing, FAT support 
  4. Documentation & Compliance 
  5. On-Site Commissioning Support, SAT support

Details of the Engineering Scope of Work:

  1. Control Strategy Development
  • Develop control strategies for automation and system optimization.
  • Implement PID, adaptive, and model-based control algorithms.
  • Optimize control loops for stability, responsiveness, and energy efficiency.
  1. Sensor Integration & Feedback Loops
  • Integrate sensor feedback loops for real-time data acquisition and system response.
  • Implement tuning methodologies to enhance control system performance.
  • Ensure accurate signal processing for optimal control actions.
  1. System Validation & Testing
  • Validate control performance via simulations and real-time testing.
  • Perform stability and robust analysis of developed control strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety and performance standards.
  1. On-Site Support
  • Travel to customer sites for debugging and machine qualification.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting as required.
  • Assist in tuning and commissioning control systems on-site.

Additionally, the role requires the following experience,

  • Collaborate closely with Team Leaders of other departments and Project Management, to align project objectives.
  • Ensure that all required procedures and standards are implemented and respected.
  • Establish an organizational structure and effective communication protocols. 
  • Establish phases in the tasks and make weekly / fortnightly reviews with team members to take corrective actions.
  • Enhance the internal training and propose potential improvements regarding Controls Engineering processes (Methodology / Standardization)
  • Support the creation of a library of standard groups and components and ensure the application of the Controls internal standardization guidelines.
  • Ensure Manuals and technical reports are developed accurately.
  • Verify the design calculations of other engineers within the Controls Engineering team.
  • Create positive impact to all stakeholders (customers, suppliers, partners, internal organization, etc.) by sharing Quest Global Customers strong brand values, essence, philosophy, heritage, way of doing, purpose, value proposition, etc.

Examples of Engineering deliverables:

  • Complete and control narrative, functional control  logic (respective documentation),  and models.
  • Complete and functional source code of the developed software.
  • Test plan and Test Cases (functional testing & loop testing)
  • User manuals and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshooting guides and system flowcharts.
  • Stability and performance analysis reports.
  • System integration reports and test results.
  • Risk Assessments analysis
  • Preliminary reviews and program backups if requested by the Client’s technical lead.

  1. PLC and HMI programming
  2. Experience in programming of motion controls systems
  3. High knowledge of industrial fieldbus (Ethernet/IP, Profinet etc.)
  4. Strong computer skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  5. Experience of developing control strategies for automation and system optimization.
  6. Technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.)
  7. Strong knowledge of project management and engineering techniques, processes and tools, including project planning tools
  8. Knowledge of Machine Directive and other industrial equipment safety rules
  9. Working experience in an international team
  10. Green Belt 6-Sigma Certification / Experience
  11. Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  12. Flexible to travel
  13. Knowledge of Spanish, Polish, Chinese or German will be positively valued
