Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable and efficient data solutions across both on-premises SQL Server and Azure Data Services/Databricks.
• Provide experience based technical leadership in migrating legacy on-premises data processes to Azure cloud technology stacks.
• Ensure process performance, data security, and integrity across hybrid solutions built in SQL Server (on-premises), Azure Data Services (Databricks, Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Synapse Analytics).
• Optimize large data loads, complex SQL workloads, and storage/compute performance across environments.
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Synapse Pipelines, and Databricks.
• Collaborate closely with analytics and BI teams to deliver solutions aligned with governance and Azure best practices.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers in both on-premises and cloud data engineering.
• Demonstrate ownership and initiative by engaging with leaders and colleagues to fully understand requirements, contribute to solution designs, participate in reviews, and drive overall excellence.

Required Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6 to 8+ years of hands-on experience in a Data Engineer or similar role with expertise in both on-premises SQL Server and Azure cloud technologies.
• Expert-level skills in SQL Server (T-SQL, indexing, partitioning, performance tuning, query optimization).
• Strong proficiency in Azure Data Services:
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
• Hands-on experience building large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines using ADF, SSIS, Synapse, or Databricks.
• Proven experience migrating on-premises SQL Server databases to Azure cloud environments.
• Clear understanding of dimensional modelling theory and practices.
• Strong problem-solving attitude with the ability to articulate sophisticated technical scenarios.
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments with good communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with distributed compute paradigms (Spark/Databricks).
• Exposure to workload management & cost optimization across Azure services.
• Experience guiding or mentoring peers.
