Job Description

As the Head Veterinarian at Sarvoham Animal Foundation, your role is crucial in overseeing the medical operations to ensure the health and well-being of the animals under our care. With a mission to rescue, heal, and find loving homes for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals, you will lead a team of veterinary professionals and collaborate with other departments to provide high-quality medical care and promote animal welfare. **Responsibilities:** - **Veterinary Care** - Demonstrate excellent diagnostic abilities to prevent illnesses, injuries, and diseases in animals. - Possess strong clinical skills across various veterinary specialties such as surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, and preventive care. - Conduct medical examinations, diagnoses, and treatments for shelter animals. - Develop and oversee medical protocols for intake, quarantine, and care of sick or injured animals to maintain high standards of care. - Implement health management protocols for all shelter animals including vaccination schedules and disease prevention measures. - **Team Leadership and Development** - Lead and manage a team of veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff. - Provide mentorship, training, and guidance on medical procedures and best practices. - Assist in the recruitment process to build a skilled veterinary team. - **Collaboration and Communication** - Collaborate with different teams to develop comprehensive health and wellness programs for shelter animals. - Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and external partners to coordinate medical care and address concerns. - Represent the shelter in professional veterinary and animal welfare communities. - **Compliance and Recordkeeping** - Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and veterinary medical ethics. - Maintain accurate medical records for all shelter animals. - Oversee inventory management of medical supplies and equipment. **Qualifications:** - BVSc or MVSc in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary school. - Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state or jurisdiction.
