Head of Special Safety Studies

As a seasoned Process Safety leader with expertise in PHA, Functional Safety, QRA, LOPA & Risk Engineering, you have an exciting opportunity to join a leading Indian MNC in Safety & Risk Assessments in Chennai as the Head of Special Safety Studies. **Role Overview:** You will be leading a specialized technical safety group and managing the end-to-end delivery of Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP, LOPA, QRA), Functional Safety (SIL Assessment, SIL Verification, SRS), RAM Studies (Reliability, Availability & Maintainability), and Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives. Your role as the strategic and technical pillar will involve working with clients in industries such as Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Pharma, and more. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide expert review & approvals for high-end PHA and Functional Safety studies - Ensure project quality, compliance & delivery excellence - Support PSM activities (audits, gap assessments, competency programs) - Lead, mentor & upskill safety engineers - Build technical depth within the team - Act as the primary contact for major clients - Ensure adherence to internal QMS and global standards - Stay updated on evolving safety regulations & industry trends **Qualification Required:** - Bachelors/Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering - Additional certifications preferred: HAZOP Leader, CFSE (Exida/TV), CCPSC (CCPS), Functional Safety certifications - 20+ years of total experience with a minimum of 10 years in Process Safety Consulting and proven expertise in leading HAZOP, QRA, LOPA, RAM studies, Functional Safety, and client-facing safety consulting If you are passionate about leading complex technical studies, mentoring high-performing teams, and driving safety excellence, this is the right opportunity for you to make a significant impact in the field of Process Safety.,
