Join our Team About this opportunity: The Head of Software Asset Management (SAM) is responsible for leading the SAM function within EIT Core Operations. This role ensures efficient software asset and license management, compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations, risk mitigation, and cost optimization. The Senior Manager will drive governance, automation, and strategic alignment with business objectives. What you will do: Strategic & Governance Leadership Define and execute a SAM strategy aligned with the organization s IT and business goals. Establish and enforce governance frameworks, policies, and best practices for software asset and license management. Collaborate with IT Security, Sourcing, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with contractual, security, and regulatory requirements. Software Asset & License Management Oversee end-to-end software lifecycle management (Request, procurement, deployment, maintain, and retirement). Manage vendor audits and ensure compliance with licensing agreements. Implement and optimize license models (subscription-based, perpetual, SaaS, etc.) to maximize cost efficiency. Drive effective SAM tooling for inventory, monitoring, and reporting. Risk & Compliance Management Mitigate risks associated with software non-compliance, Entitlement and ELP breaches. Ensure adherence to IT security policies related to software assets. Maintain a proactive approach to software vulnerability and risk management. Financial Optimization & Cost Management Identify cost-saving opportunities through software license optimization, re-harvesting, and contract negotiations. Ensure software spend aligns with business value and ROI expectations. Work with Finance and Sourcing to develop software budget forecasts and cost reduction strategies. Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership Lead and mentor the SAM team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development. Collaborate with BA/PA/MA, and vendors to ensure alignment of software investments with business needs. Partner with SW LCM and Product teams to drive efficient software governance. The skills you bring: Education: Bachelor s/Master s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field. Experience: At least 15+ years of leadership experience and 7+IT Asset Management (ITAM) / SAM with leadership experience. Strong knowledge of SAM frameworks (ISO 19770, ITIL, etc.). Experience with SAM tools (Flexera, ServiceNow SAM, Snow, etc.). Proven track record in vendor management, contract negotiation, software audit handling and stakeholder management. Familiarity with cloud and hybrid licensing models (AWS, Azure, SaaS, etc.). Key Competencies & Skills: Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, security, and compliance. Analytical and problem-solving skills for software optimization and risk mitigation. Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
