Position Overview

We are looking to bring on an energetic and visionary Head of Sales to lead and accelerate the growth of our cutting-edge Analytical Testing Laboratory. This is a unique opportunity for a trailblazer ready to drive business development initially focused on metals and minerals, while boldly expanding into agriculture, food, and allied sectors. Your leadership will directly shape our trajectory as a high-impact startup in the analytical services sphere. The ideal candidate should have proven expertise in lab services sales, strong networks in government/PSU contracts, and the vision to grow and scale a high-potential startup.

Business Growth & Leadership

  • Take full ownership of crafting and executing a forward-thinking sales strategy to drive substantial revenue growth for the Analytical Lab.
  • Oversee all aspects of business development, client relationship management, and new account acquisition.

Market & Portfolio Expansion

  • Steer the labs expansion beyond metals and minerals into new verticals including agricultural, food, and allied industries.
  • Analyze evolving market trends, anticipate client needs, and proactively identify areas for new service development.

Government & PSU Engagement

  • Forge, bid for, and secure multi-year contracts with government agencies, PSUs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Cultivate high-trust partnerships within government ecosystems and successfully navigate compliance requirements.

Strategic Alliances & Brand Building

  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with strategic clients, consortiums, and industry associations.
  • Proudly represent the laboratory at industry events, forums, and conferences to boost brand recognition and thought leadership.

Sales Execution & Pipeline Management

  • Actively identify, nurture, and convert new business opportunities while building a robust pipeline.
  • Lead end-to-end proposal development, negotiations, and contract finalization with integrity and drive.

Team Building & People Leadership

  • Assemble, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales and business development team.
  • Foster a collaborative, goal-oriented culture that embraces accountability and creative problem-solving.

Startup Scale-Up & Strategic Planning

  • Work hands-on with the leadership team to shape market entry strategies, pricing models, and compelling value propositions.
  • Continuously refine go-to-market plans aligned with startup agility and scalability.

Performance Management

  • Define and implement sales metrics, monitor team and individual performance, and ensure consistent achievement of revenue and margin targets.
  • Analyze performance against KPIs to drive improvement and motivate excellence.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of progressive leadership in sales and business development specifically for analytical testing services spanning Metals, Minerals, Agriculture, and Food sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in securing and managing large-scale government or PSU contracts, with a comprehensive understanding of procurement processes.
  • Deep relationships across corporate, government, and industry association landscapes; an effective connector and influencer.
  • A self-starter mindset with a strong passion for scaling high-growth startups and thriving in dynamic, evolving ecosystems.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to attract, coach, and lead talented sales teamswhile personally championing mission-critical deals.
  • Clear grasp of analytical testing standards, regulatory certifications, and compliance frameworks.
