Job Summary:
Head of IFRS
This role will play a key part in strengthening technical capabilities, driving operational excellence, and supporting business expansion across global client portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide vision and strategic direction for the IFRS service line, aligning team goals with GI Outsourcing's overall business objectives.
- Define and implement IFRS delivery frameworks, KPIs, and best practices across all locations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and the Executive Committee to shape the long-term IFRS roadmap and service innovations, and growth strategy.
-  Lead initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and profitability within the IFRS division.
- Technical Excellence
- IFRS compliance: Ensure client financial statements, reports, and disclosures are prepared accurately and in full compliance with current IFRS and UK accounting regulations.
- Policy Development: Lead the development, maintenance, and rigorous application of the group's accounting policies and procedures across the Indian operations to ensure consistency with UK regulatory requirements.
- Statutory Reporting: Oversee the end-to-end preparation, review, and quality control of statutory financial statements for UK clients, ensuring absolute compliance with UK legal and accounting standards.
- Adoption of new standards: Monitor upcoming IFRS developments, assess their impact on UK clients, and lead the implementation of new standards and policies
- UK GAAP to IFRS transition: Lead and oversee transition projects for UK clients migrating from UK GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to IFRS.
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all IFRS engagements comply with professional, legal, and ethical standards.
- Establish and monitor internal review mechanisms to maintain data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and stay informed about emerging compliance requirements.
- Champion transparency, documentation standards, and audit-readiness across all IFRS functions.
- Client Management & Communication
- Act as a senior technical advisor to clients, providing strategic insights and practical solutions to IFRS-related challenges.
- Foster long-term client relationships through proactive communication, technical confidence, and reliable service delivery.
- Support business development by contributing to client proposals, presentations, and IFRS-led consulting opportunities.
- Collaborate with UK and India-based teams to ensure consistent client experience across all service lines.
- Technology & Transformation
- Drive the adoption of modern accounting technologies, automation tools, and analytics platforms to improve IFRS reporting efficiency.
- Partner with IT and transformation teams to implement digital solutions that enhance accuracy, turnaround time, and data transparency.
- Promote innovation through continuous improvement initiatives and integration of technology into financial processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Qualification: Must possess a globally recognised, senior professional accounting qualification, such as ACA, ACCA or an equivalent Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- Education:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 12-14 years of progressive experience in financial reporting and technical accounting, with a significant focus on UK IFRS/UK GAAP.
- Extensive post-qualification experience, ideally gained within an outsourcing firm or leading audit/consulting organization, followed by a senior role in a multinational corporation, financial services firm, or shared services environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying complex IFRS standards.
- Experience in managing UK or international client portfolios preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills.

- Outsourcing/Offshore Model Experience:Deep understanding of the outsourcing delivery model, including managing service levels, governance, and quality in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Strategic & Commercial Acumen:Beyond technical expertise, the candidate must have the ability to translate technical accounting impacts into clear commercial terms that influence business strategy and client outcomes.
- Change Management:Proven track record in leading large-scale technical change projects, such as system implementations or the adoption of new IFRS standards across a geographically dispersed team.
- Advanced IT Skills:Proficiency in major accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero, CaseWare) and financial reporting systems.
