Job Description

KEY ROLE -

1. Head of School - Foundation is the pedagogical & organizational leader of the Junior School (Grade K to 2).

2. The person is responsible for setting a culture of high expectations and developing outstanding standards of Teaching and Learning and Operations in the school

ROLES & RESPONSIBILTIES -

Leadership Role

  • Build a culture of trust, respect and accountability where all members of the staff and students community work hard to achieve their full potential.
  • Modelling behavior consistent with the schools values and aspirations.
  • Nurture, mentor and counsel staff so that they are inspired to remain committed to the mission and vision of the school.
  • Strategically lead the Junior School to provide strong Instructional Leadership to the teaching teams and establish the school as a beacon of global best practices with regards to Teaching and Learning.
  • Strategically lead the Junior School to provide strong Administrative Instructional Leadership to the non-academic teams to ensure that all systems and processes run efficiently and effectively .
  • Recognize parents as important stakeholders and promote a culture of parents as partners in learnings and provide leadership for positive parent engagement.

Management Role

  • Develop and implement school policies as directed by the Principal/Director
  • Responsible for successful implementation of the School Development and Improvement plan.
  • Oversee, through personal action and appropriate delegation, smooth and effective operations in Junior School in terms of staffing, timetabling, admissions and finance.
  • Support the delivery of the curriculum across the board in order to build on success and identify and act on areas of improvement.
  • Follow and develop Standard Operating Procedures in line with school values ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the students at the school.

Teaching

  • Develop an internationally minded broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Drive and monitor the delivery of the curriculum through weekly meetings, by examining the work of the students and through class observations Heads of departments and academic coordinators will be part of this monitoring process as well.
  • Promote a pedagogy inspired from best international practices.
  • Assess, monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching standards and learning and the delivery of the curriculum in the Junior school.
  • Work closely with the Time Table in-charges in creating a balanced timetable optimizing the use of all available resources.
  • Evaluate academic print material (planners, diaries, report card etc.
  • Prepare the school annual calendar.
  • Teach a timetable commensurate with the responsibilities and demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
  • Promote the further development of a wide ranging extra-curricular activities program.

Staff

  • Ensure effective planning, allocation, support and evaluation of work undertaken by teams and individuals, ensuring clear delegation of tasks and devolution of responsibilities.
  • Provide opportunities for growth and continuing professional development of the teaching team by creating an inspiring, professional work environment and modelling behavior consistent with the schools values and aspirations.
  • Put in place effective team communication mechanisms to ensure that all staff are involved in the school development plan and kept informed of key priorities and

developments.

  • Be part of the recruitment process of academic staff, arrange for demo classes etc, give feedback, work closely with Head HR.
  • Define responsibilities and create job descriptions for staff positions, in collaboration with Head HR.
  • Ensure all training needs of new staff are met –and induction to school culture on class management, how to interact with parents, how to handle PTMs, how to write reports etc is covered.

Student

  • Lead the development and implementation of SEE Learning
  • Provide vision and support in the successful setting up of the student council and creating a meaningful Outreach Program.
  • Monitoring the progress of students learning - Chair regular meetings with various departments to monitor progress, establish strengths and identify areas for improvement for students
  • Interact regularly with students and develop a strong pastoral support system for all learners
  • Handle disciplinary matters, with the help of a disciplinary committee.

Parent

  • Actively contribute in new student admissions by engaging with prospective parents and sharing the school’s mission - vision and expectations with them.
  • Develop and promote positive Parent school partnership, whereby parents are engaged as a partner in learning.
  • Lead interactions with parents during PSA’s and PTM and keep the parents informed and updated about all areas of student development
  • Monitor all communication and circulars to and other outside agencies.
