Role Summary
The CFO / Head of Finance will be a core member of the senior leadership team and the custodian of the company’s financial integrity, strategy, and governance. This role goes beyond traditional finance leadership and requires a strategic business partner capable of managing end-to-end financial stewardship for large-scale real estate/infrastructure projects.
The incumbent will lead financial strategy, project finance, fundraising, compliance (including RERA), cost controls, and stakeholder management. The role demands a seasoned finance leader with hands-on experience in project-based businesses, capable of operating in dynamic and, at times, stressed environments while driving financial discipline, transparency, and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies aligned with business objectives and project execution plans.
- Lead annual operating plans, long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board on financial performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Drive financial modeling, scenario analysis, and business viability assessments for ongoing and new projects.
2. Fundraising & Project Finance
- Lead fundraising initiatives including debt, equity, structured finance, and refinancing as required.
- Structure and manage project financing arrangements, including lender negotiations and documentation.
- Evaluate project feasibility, IRR, funding mix, and financial risks across construction and EPC contracts.
- Optimize capital structure and support business expansion initiatives.
3. Controllership, Accounting & MIS
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Ind AS.
- Build and strengthen MIS, dashboards, and reporting systems for management and Board review.
- Establish and enhance internal controls, SOPs, and financial governance frameworks.
4. Project Costing & Working Capital Management
- Manage project-level budgeting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and milestone-based financial monitoring.
- Oversee contractor and vendor billing, certifications, and payment cycles.
- Optimize working capital and cash flows across projects, EPC, and supply verticals.
- Ensure efficient utilization of funds aligned with construction and operational timelines.
5. Compliance, Taxation & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements including GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, and RERA.
- Act as the principal authority for RERA financial compliance, escrow account management, and reporting.
- Lead statutory, tax, internal, and lender audits with a focus on clean audit outcomes.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
6. Treasury & Stakeholder Management
- Manage all banking relationships, escrow accounts, credit facilities, and treasury operations.
- Serve as the primary financial interface with investors, lenders, regulatory authorities, vendors, and contractors.
- Act as a key liaison with Buyers’ Welfare Associations, ensuring transparency and trust through regular financial reporting.
- Lead negotiations with financial institutions and external stakeholders on commercial and financial matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (mandatory); MBA (Finance) preferred.
- 12–25 years of overall experience with at least 5–10 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Strong, demonstrable experience in Real Estate / Infrastructure / Construction / EPC sectors.
- Proven track record in project finance, fundraising (debt/equity), and managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.
- Exposure to turnaround situations or financially stressed projects will be a strong advantage.
