As the Head of Department - SMS - Process - Steel at Welspun, your role will involve overseeing the operations, management, and performance of the steel melting shop within a steel manufacturing facility, specifically focusing on the stainless steel plant. Your strategic leadership and operational expertise will be crucial in ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to production targets and schedules. **Role Overview:** - Supervise the steel melting process to ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to production targets and schedules. - Manage, train, and develop the team in the steel melting shop, fostering a collaborative environment while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. - Continuously monitor and improve production processes to optimize efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize waste. - Ensure that the steel produced meets industry standards and customer specifications, implementing corrective actions as necessary. - Oversee the proper maintenance of melting furnaces, ladles, and other key equipment to ensure minimal downtime and safe operations. - Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all safety protocols are followed, conducting regular safety audits, and taking corrective actions where necessary. - Manage the departmental budget effectively, including labor, material costs, and other operational expenses, ensuring resources are allocated within budget constraints. **Qualification Required:** - Experience in stainless steel plant production operations. - Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team effectively. - In-depth knowledge of steel production processes, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance. - Proven track record in optimizing production processes and ensuring quality control. - Budget management experience and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. - Excellent communication skills for reporting to senior management and coordinating with other departments.
