Job Summary:

The Cosmetics R&D Executive will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving cosmetic formulations (skin care, makeup, oral care) in alignment with market trends and client requirements
This role involves raw material selection, stability testing, regulatory compliance, and scaling up lab-developed products for manufacturing

Key Responsibilities:

Formulation Development: Research and develop new cosmetic, skin care, and oral care formulations based on market trends and client briefs
Raw Material Evaluation: Source, test, and select raw materials (emulsifiers, actives, preservatives, etc) for efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness Stability & Performance Testing: Conduct stability tests (accelerated & real-time), compatibility tests, and microbiological testing to ensure product safety and shelf life Regulatory Compliance: Ensure formulations meet international cosmetic regulations (FDA, EU, ISO, BIS, etc) and prepare necessary documentation Scale-Up Support: Work closely with production teams to transfer lab-scale formulations to commercial manufacturing Innovation & Trends: Stay updated on emerging cosmetic technologies, sustainable ingredients, and market trends Documentation: Maintain detailed R&D records, batch logs, and technical reports Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, quality control, and production teams to align R&D with business goals

Qualifications & Skills:

Hard Skills:

Strong knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, emulsion systems, surfactants, and active ingredients
Experience in formulating skin care (creams, serums, lotions), cosmetics (makeup, color cosmetics), or oral care products Familiarity with stability testing, rheology, and sensory evaluation Understanding of GMP, ISO 22716, and regulatory standards for cosmetics Proficiency in R&D software tools (if applicable) and lab equipment (pH meters, viscometers, etc)

Soft Skills:

Innovative & Problem-Solving Mindset - Ability to troubleshoot formulation challenges
Detail-Oriented & Analytical - Strong documentation and data interpretation skills Team Player - Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams Time Management - Manages multiple projects efficiently

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor s/Master s in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Additional certifications in Cosmetic Formulation / Dermatology / Regulatory Affairs (preferred)

Preferred Experience:

2-5 years of experience in cosmetic R&D, preferably in private-label manufacturing
Experience with natural/organic formulations, sustainable ingredients, or Ayurvedic/herbal cosmetics is a plus
