Job Description

Hardware Lab Admin

Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Environment Management:

Install, configure, and maintain lab hardware (servers, switches, routers, specialized equipment).
Troubleshoot, solder, and repair hardware malfunctions.
Manage software installations, updates, and configurations.
Maintain inventory, warranty, and service records.

User & Network Support:

Provide timely technical support and resolve user tickets.
Manage user access to lab resources.
Administer and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, and network issues.

Process & Documentation:

Automate lab processes with scripts and tools.
Document lab procedures, standards, and issue resolutions.

Planning & Collaboration:

Assist in designing new lab systems and services.
Collaborate with teams to implement and support lab tools.
Research and recommend new technologies for the lab.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience & Background:

2 to 5 years of experience in hardware lab administration, IT support, or infrastructure roles.
Proven experience with server, network, and hardware setup and maintenance.
Familiarity with lab environments supporting R&D, development, or testing teams.

Technical Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, soldering, and repair.
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
Solid understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, switches, and access control.
Comfortable with software deployment, configuration, and version control tools.

Soft Skills & Attributes:

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong documentation and process adherence mindset.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Collaborative attitude with a service-oriented approach to supporting users.
