Hardware Engineer - Power Electronics

As a Hardware Engineer at Exponent, you will be working with the Engineering team that is fueled by a passion for creating innovative products. The team's philosophy revolves around the principles of breaking assumptions, believing in the process, and building passionately. You will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of the Flexible Energy Stack comprising the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) to enable 15-minute rapid charging. **Key Responsibilities:** - Define the right architecture, questioning existing ones - Own the entire hardware design process from block-diagram to schematics to layouts to testing - Make smart component selections to meet specifications and trade-offs - Ensure timeline adherence while maintaining quality standards and cost-effectiveness **Qualifications Required:** - Experienced in taking hardware design from concept to production - Understanding of DFX (DFA, DFM, DFT etc.) - Proficiency in Power Electronic fundamentals and component knowledge (Mosfets, Diodes, Capacitors, Inductors) - Expertise in AC-DC, DC-DC Converter design and Schematic Design - Ability to conduct thermal, tolerance, stress, and cost analysis - Experience in EMI/EMC is advantageous - Familiarity with Creepage, Clearance, and Insulation standards You will need to demonstrate: - Commitment to delivering high-quality work - Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach - Dislike for mediocre work and a drive for excellence - Resilience to learn from failures and bounce back At Exponent, we are simplifying energy for EVs by building the e^pump and e^pack to enable 15-minute rapid charging.
