About the ASSURE (Accelerating Sustainable and Super-Efficient Real Estate) project The ASSURE project is a collaborative initiative between the Indian Institute for Human Settlements and Infosys, a global digital services and consulting company. The main objective of ASSURE is to revolutionize India's real estate sector, which is large, rapidly expanding, and has a significant carbon and energy footprint, by advocating for the widespread adoption of High Performance Buildings (HPBs). In the upcoming years, ASSURE plans to provide technical support to major developers in India for key projects covering 100 million square feet. This includes upskilling 12,000 individuals, backing 30 innovative ventures, introducing a platform for performance measurement and verification to encourage HPB adoption and financing, as well as collaborating with policymakers and financial decision-makers to establish favorable policies and financial structures for HPBs. Within the lighthouse projects, ASSURE collaborates closely with developer teams to set achievable performance objectives, guide technology and design selections, aid in implementation and operations, and navigate financial and procurement pathways to ensure the successful execution and functioning of HPBs. Job Description We are currently looking for a Building Simulation Expert proficient in conducting thermal, energy, daylighting, and glare analyses through annual simulations. As a part of this role, you will focus on analyzing and simulating large commercial building projects, creating or modifying simulations for further evaluations. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a team of expert consultants, attend project meetings, and gain insights into the process of design consulting. Activities and Tasks Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: - Performing daylight penetration, glare, and daylight availability assessments using LightStanza - Conducting facade heat gain analysis utilizing IES VE and DesignBuilder and refining shading strategies - Developing passive design strategies that strike a balance between daylighting and thermal comfort - Generating simulation reports and presentations, and collaborating with architects and engineers - Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders - Extending support to various IIHS activities such as academics, research, training, and operations - Engaging in all aspects of Institution-building at IIHS, undertaking assigned tasks, and traveling for IIHS-related work within or outside the country as needed Structure and Reporting The Building Simulation Expert will report to the Project Director of ASSURE at IIHS. Effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders is essential for this role. Person Specification The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills: - A Master's degree focusing on Building Energy Performance, Building Science, or related fields, with substantial coursework on building performance - Prior experience in building projects is advantageous - Proficiency in assessing daylighting sufficiency, glare, heat gain, and energy performance metrics - Expertise in LightStanza, IES VE, or DesignBuilder - Ability to create and manipulate 3-D models in Sketchup, Rhino, or Revit (with Grasshopper) and translate simulation outcomes into actionable design strategies - Familiarity with green building rating systems and energy codes - Excellent report writing and graphic presentation abilities - Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word - Knowledge of scripting in python, running batch simulations, and additional skills will be beneficial - Strong teamwork and communication skills This position is exclusive, meaning that any other professional engagements that may pose a conflict of interest with IIHS cannot be pursued. Job Overview Designs a complete and complex Simulation framework, system, or product. Define simulationprocesses for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Responsibilities To perform FEA tasks and provide suitable design recommendations to validate the design virtually. Validate concept designs using simulation techniques and determine design robustness, critical to function requirements. Position will perform analysis of electrical connector systems in response to requests from the Engineering and Sales functions. Deploy FEA Techniques implicit and explicit approach, using Software tools like Ansys majorly on Nonlinear static, dynamics, thermal and electrothermal analysis. Translate the actual problem to a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) model, interpret the analysis results and select the best solution Monitor and evaluate simulation software capabilities and industry trends. Deploy a standardised process and work methodology Train and develop the capability of the team to be a multi-skilled resource pool. Benchmark and implement productivity improvement methods. Track monitor metrics for sustained performance covering quality & delivery. Collaborate with design & validation teams to enhance the design optimisation. What your background should look like: BE/ B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical) M Tech (Mechanical/Electrical) (preferred) Knowledge of product, design processes and methodolo Expertise on CAE tools, Optimization techniques, and testing methods Understanding of LEAN / 6 Sigma / Kaizen techniques. Proficiency in state-of-the-art FEA- Ansys Mechanical, MAPDL, LS-DYNA, MATLAB Programming language - Python, Microsoft VB-script, Power BI- An added advantage Proficiency in the use of MS Office tools. Experience onconnector products (Plastics and Sheet Metal parts) is an added advantage. CRITICAL EXPERIENCE 5-7 years of industry experience. Knowledge on Non-Linear structural, dynamics, thermal & electrothermal analysis. Knowledge on material science (Metals, Plastics & hyper elastic material) and implement for simulation.
