Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Hardware Engineering General Summary: HW Design Engineer who will design and deliver high-quality boards for FPGA-based Emulation Platforms and/or Post-Si validation boards. This person will be directly responsible for all aspects of hardware design and delivery, including schematic capture, managing constraints, and overseeing layout, BOM management, design verification testing of the board, debug, and bring-up support for Emulation/Verification teams, who will use these platforms. The role requires working closely with cross-functional teams involved with a typical hardware design project:mechanical design, PCB CAD, Power/Signal Integrity analysis, component engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and customers (Emulation and VI teams.) This person will be expected to be a strong technical contributor, working independently, or overseeing junior engineers as applicable, in all stages from requirements gathering and concept development, to production qualification and support. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 2 years"™ experience in System Architecture, Hardware/High-speed Digital/Power Board Design Bachelor"™s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Preferred Qualifications: Highly skilled hands-on Engineer with 2-8 years"™ experience in the High-speed digital board design, power distribution networks, bring-up and debug skills. At least 2 years designing FPGA-based and/or microcontroller-based systems. Experience with 10Gb/s or higher SERDES board designs is a plus Experience with Signal integrity and Power Integrity simulations is highly desired Familiarity with typical data and control interfaces (Examples include UART, USB, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, SDIO, PCIe, etc.), Experience in designing hardware for data centers or other rack-based systems Designing, testing and bring up of complex and Digital System Design with power devices (such as switching power supplies, LDOs) EDA tools for schematic capture (Dx Designer preferred) Exposure to full development life cycle (Requirements to Production Qualification and Support) and configuration management for managing associated documentation (BOMs, schematics, drawings etc.) Expertise in handling Lab equipment and test & measurement tools like oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers etc. Must have good communication skills Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplined team and across sites highly desired FPGA design experience is a strong plus Key Responsibilities: System and architectural design Writing of design specifications (i.e. Requirements, Functional, Architectural, Test, etc) Hardware (Board Level) Design Provide layout constraints and Oversee PCB Layout Design. Interface with Manufacturing Teams during assembly and test of boards Support customers of the boards in debug Partner with customers like validation and SW teams to ensure success of the product
