GM / Sr GM / VP - R&D Head (Pumps)

Role & responsibilities

Role Overview

The Head NPD will lead the end-to-end New Product Development function, driving innovation across Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics verticals. This role will focus on developing next-generation pump products, improving performance, efficiency, reliability, and time-to-market, while aligning with market demand and global standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the

  entire NPD lifecycle

  — concept, design, prototyping, validation, and production handover.
• Drive

  Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics integration

  for smart/energy-efficient pump solutions.
• Define

  technology roadmap, innovation strategy, and product differentiation

  for domestic & international markets.
• Guide

  R&D, D&D teams

  on design optimization, material selection, testing, and quality compliance.
• Work closely with

  marketing, production, sourcing, and QA

  to ensure commercial viability & manufacturability.
• Implement

  DFMEA, VA/VE, DFM, DFQ, DFMEA frameworks

  for cost-effective & robust product development.
• Ensure

  compliance with BIS, IS, ISO, IEC, IE5/IE6 energy norms & global certifications

  .
• Drive

  digitalisation & smart pumps

  – IoT, predictive monitoring, motor efficiency, electronics integration.
• Vendor co-development &

  technology partnerships

  for motors, drives, impellers, control panels, and smart controllers.
• Lead

  team of engineers across R&D, design, proto, testing, electronics

  with strong project governance.
• Monitor

  NPD timelines, stage gate reviews, budget control, and ROI

  on new product releases.

Candidate Profile

• 15+ years experience

  in pump industry, with strong exposure to R&D / D&D / NPD leadership.
• Expert in

  centrifugal / submersible / industrial / agricultural / solar / domestic pump technologies

  .
• Strong knowledge of

  hydraulics, motors, impellers, seals, VFDs, IoT electronics, and performance testing

  .
• Proven track record of

  leading multi-disciplinary teams

  , delivering successful product launches.
