Consultant Ophthalmologist
with specialization in glaucoma, you will play a critical role in providing clinical leadership, performing complex glaucoma surgeries, managing outpatient services, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best patient outcomes.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and manage patients with a range of glaucoma conditions including primary open-angle, angle-closure, congenital, and secondary glaucomas.
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnostic imaging, and visual field tests to assess glaucoma progression and treatment efficacy.
- Execute a full spectrum of glaucoma surgeries, including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation, MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery), and laser therapies (e.g., SLT, YAG).
- Manage and follow up with post-operative cases to ensure successful surgical outcomes and patient recovery.
- Collaborate with optometrists, general ophthalmologists, and other sub-specialists in co-managing complex cases.
- Provide evidence-based treatment plans including the use of topical medications, laser treatment, and surgical interventions.
- Engage in continuing medical education and keep up with the latest advancements in glaucoma management and surgical techniques.
- Educate patients and families about glaucoma, disease progression, and the importance of adherence to treatment plans.
- Participate in department meetings, audits, and clinical governance activities to enhance patient safety and quality of care.
- Contribute to training and mentoring junior doctors and clinical staff in ophthalmology and surgical best practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- MBBS with MS/DOMS/DNB in Ophthalmology from a recognized institution.
- Fellowship or specialized training in Glaucoma Surgery is highly preferred.
- Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or relevant state council.
- 2 to 8 years of post-qualification experience in a clinical and surgical ophthalmology setup, with a significant focus on glaucoma.
- Proven proficiency in handling advanced glaucoma diagnostics and surgical interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach toward patients.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team environment
