As the Stone Department Manager at our jewelry manufacturing unit, your role is crucial in overseeing the operations of the stone department. You will lead a team of stone specialists and collaborate with various departments to ensure the stones used in diamond-studded jewelry meet high-quality standards and customer requirements. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Department Management:** Lead, manage, and supervise a team of stone specialists, gemmologists, and stone setters. Allocate tasks, set performance targets, and ensure timely completion of production schedules. - **Stone Procurement & Inventory Management:** Oversee the procurement of diamonds, gemstones, and precious stones. Build relationships with suppliers, review inventory levels, and maintain accurate records of transactions. - **Quality Control and Assurance:** Implement stringent quality control procedures. Inspect stones for clarity, color, cut, and carat weight. Monitor cutting, polishing, and setting processes for quality assurance. - **Stone Sorting and Grading:** Supervise sorting and grading based on quality, size, and shape. Analyze stones with gemologists, maintain grading records, and ensure compliance with international standards. - **Stone Setting & Production Coordination:** Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure stones are set accurately. Monitor the setting process to avoid damage and address any issues promptly. - **Training & Development:** Conduct training sessions on best practices for stone handling, grading, and sorting. Encourage continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends. - **Budgeting & Cost Control:** Prepare and manage the department's budget, track stone consumption, and optimize costs. Minimize wastage and work closely with the finance department for cost optimization. - **Reporting & Documentation:** Generate reports on stone usage, quality, and inventory.
