GDC Melting - Sr Engineer/AM/Manager for Alloy Wheels Plant

Key Responsibilities

• Melting Operations

  :
• Manage and monitor day-to-day aluminium melting processes for GDC.
  
• Ensure correct charge mix, temperature, and holding parameters as per SOPs.
  
• Maintain optimum furnace utilization and reduce metal loss.
  

• Alloy Quality Control

  :
• Ensure chemical composition of alloy meets required specifications.
  
• Coordinate with Quality and Metallurgy teams for sampling and analysis.
  
• Maintain traceability of batches.
  

• Furnace Management

  :
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of crucible, tilting, or reverberatory furnaces.
  
• Plan preventive maintenance schedules.
  
• Monitor furnace refractory life and ensure timely relining.
  

• Safety & Compliance

  :
• Ensure strict adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) protocols in the melting bay.
  
• Train team members on safe handling of molten metal.
  

• Manpower Handling

  :
• Lead and train melting shop team including operators, helpers, and technicians.
  
• Plan and allocate manpower shifts efficiently.
  

• Inventory & Material Handling

  :
• Monitor raw material (aluminium ingots, master alloys) inventory and consumption.
  
• Coordinate with SCM for timely material availability.
  

• Process Improvement

  :
• Drive initiatives to reduce melting cost (power, flux, dross losses).
  
• Implement lean and 5S practices in the melting area.
  

Key Skills Required

• Strong technical knowledge of aluminium melting and gravity die casting.
  
• Familiar with alloy standards (A356, LM6, ADC12 etc.)
  
• Hands-on experience with spectrometers, pyrometers, and metallurgical tools.
  
• Leadership and team management.
  
• SAP or ERP exposure preferred.
  

Qualifications

• Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Production Engineering.
  
• Certification in Foundry Technology is an added advantage.
