FX - Crowd (DNEG Animation)

The role of Crowd TD involves creating intricate crowd shots using vignette and simulation techniques. Working closely with the Creature Supervisor and DFX Supervisors, you will be tasked with developing a distinctive look, movement, and style that aligns with the creative vision of the VFX Supervisor and Director. Utilizing your skills in crowd simulation software, particularly Houdini, Massive, Golaem, or similar programs, you will produce photorealistic crowd simulations by leveraging 3D assets from various departments within the organization. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality simulations by collaborating with teams using off-the-shelf software like Houdini and Maya, along with custom pipeline tools. Additionally, you should have a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of timing, and a thorough understanding of physical simulation techniques in computer graphics. Experience in troubleshooting pipeline issues, balancing quality under time constraints, and possessing excellent artistic and technical abilities are essential for this role. Desirable skills for this position include proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as MEL, Python, Hscript, or VEX, as well as previous experience in live-action VFX crowd work. Familiarity with compositing, knowledge of Houdini, Massive, Maya, or equivalent 3D software, and a good general TD background are considered advantageous. Furthermore, having a strong grasp of Linux/Unix operating systems is beneficial in executing your tasks efficiently.
