Job Description

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop and refine safety concepts for ECU functions, deriving Functional , Technical, Hardware and Software Safety requirements from stakeholder and customer specifications.

2. Perform safety analysis including System FMEA and DFA, and support definition of safety mechanisms and diagnostics for microcontroller-based ECUs (e.g., Infineon Tricore, RH850, ST).

3. Prepare and maintain safety work products such as safety plans, safety cases, safety assessments, and safety release reports for OEM customers.

4. Collaborate with system, hardware, and software teams to ensure traceability of safety requirements and alignment with overall system architecture and project milestones.

5. Define and review test scenarios for safety-related components, support vehicle-level testing, and evaluate system responses to safety-critical faults.

6. Support development and integration of safety-related software (e.g., E-GAS monitoring concepts) using model-based design tools and ensure proper configuration and verification.

7. Interface with customers for requirement clarification, issue resolution, and presentation of safety evidence during reviews and audits.

8. Use requirement and configuration management tools (e.g., DOORS Classic/DNG, ALM, JIRA, Confluence, Vector SDOM) to manage safety artifacts and change control.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
  • 7–10 years of experience in automotive embedded applications with significant focus on functional safety for ECUs (powertrain, VCU, body/seat/gateway controllers, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience in deriving and managing FSR, TSR, HSR and SSR and executing System FMEA or similar safety analysis.
  • Strong exposure to microcontroller-based ECU development and testing using tools such as CANAPE, INCA, V-Flash, ETAS Labcar, and UDE.
  • Proficiency with requirement and configuration management tools (DOORS/DNG, ALM, JIRA, Confluence, Vector SDOM or equivalent).
  • Experience in vehicle-level testing and validation of safety-related functions, including analysis of system responses and defect resolution.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in functional safety activities for both electric and ICE 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler platforms (e.g., power sports, passenger cars).
  • Familiarity with safety standards and OEM safety processes (e.g., preparation of safety cases, safety assessments, and safety release documentation).
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting cross-functional teams on safety processes and work products.
