As a member of the team at Verto, you will be immersed in our passion for facilitating connections between businesses in Africa and global opportunities. Our platform, initially designed to facilitate the trading of Nigerian Naira, has evolved into a market-leading solution that is transforming how numerous businesses execute money transfers to and from Africa. In your first 12 months with us, your success will be defined by your ability to develop and deploy at least two scalable, distributed applications on cloud platforms like AWS. You will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering RESTful APIs that power secure and high-performance web applications utilized by a multitude of businesses. Additionally, you will be instrumental in enhancing system performance and scalability, thereby contributing to a 25% reduction in average API response times. Your responsibilities will also include building a robust front-end architecture using modern frameworks like Angular to ensure an intuitive user experience and guaranteeing that all systems adhere to high standards of code quality, security, and reliability to minimize production issues by 30%. Key responsibilities in this role involve designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and scalable services for Verto's suite of products. You will be tasked with constructing and testing highly scalable web applications and services, particularly in dealing with petabyte-scale data within the data governance domain. Furthermore, you will be expected to create strong system and service architectures, provide constructive feedback during design reviews, and leverage cloud platforms such as AWS to establish geographically agnostic and flexible systems. Utilizing tools like AWS CodeBuild, Docker, Serverless Framework, and Swagger will be essential in delivering high-quality solutions and implementing dockerised applications that can be deployed flexibly to meet business requirements. Your proficiency in modern frameworks like Angular, Flutter, or React will be crucial in developing intuitive and efficient user interfaces. Moreover, you will be responsible for writing unit and acceptance tests to ensure code reliability and participating in the full development lifecycle from research and prototyping to production release while collaborating closely within a small, driven team to deliver innovative and impactful solutions. To excel in this role, we are seeking individuals with a minimum of 2 years of professional development experience with any object-oriented language and hands-on experience in building applications using Node.js. Proficiency in modern web frameworks such as Angular and React, a strong understanding of software design principles, and knowledge of HTTP and REST standards are essential. Additionally, a proven track record of developing highly scalable distributed applications on cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and experience working with relational databases like MySQL are highly valued. Strong communication skills, the ability to explain technical decisions, mentor team members, flexibility, and a proactive attitude to adapt as the role evolves are also key attributes we are looking for in potential candidates.,
