Fuel cell stack engineer

Position Summary:

Responsible for PEM fuel cell stack design, research and development on material selection, component qualifications. Conduct fuel cell testing & data analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Hands on operation of PEM Fuel Cell test stations.
• Designing and developing new fuel cell components or systems.
• Develop fuel cell test plans and procedures, design of experiments.
• Conducting performance and durability tests on fuel cell components or systems.
• Conduct electrochemical diagnostics, such as cyclic voltammetry or impedance spectroscopy.
• Conducting test startup checklist and safety checklist before test start-up.
• Analyzing fuel cell or related test data, using statistical software packages
• Test procedure documentation.
• Preparing technical reports, presentations, patent applications, and papers for review by technical professionals and management.
• Identifying and selecting materials appropriate for fuel cell product designs.
• Conducting research on new materials that improve fuel cell performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Analyze fuel cell test data and propose improvements to design or materials.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and reports.
• Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
• Read current literature, attend meetings or conferences, or talk with colleagues to stay abreast of new technology or competitive products.
• Ability to work as a part of a team and on own initiative.
• Cross functional discussions with project owners in defining the scope of experiments and negotiating schedules.

Skills Required:

• Proficiency in using laboratory instruments and equipment for testing fuel cell system performance.
• Technical knowledge in electrochemistry or Fuel cell operation.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, plumbing, valve and valve operation
• Basic understanding of working safely with fuels (natural gas, propane & hydrogen)
• Experience in basic IT Software requirement/installation (Windows OS, MS-Office)
• Knowledge of instrumentation and labview software would be an added advantage.
• Must be a highly effective communicator at all levels (phone, e-mail & verbal)
• Experience in using computer-aided design (CAD) software for creating and optimizing fuel cell designs is preferable.
• Experience in Matlab, data analytics software is preferable.
